Welcome!
I am Rachel Sparkman and I am currently a doctoral student at Florida State University in the Department of Sociology with a concentration in demography. My research interests include rural sociology, immigration, spatial inequality, and population change.
Some Background
Originally from West Virginia, I received both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Sociology from Marshall University, in Huntington, West Virginia. Upon being awarded my MA in 2012, I have been an instructor for the department of sociology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Courses I have taught include Introduction to Sociology, courses on the family, as well as designing a course on Rural Sociology. See my Teaching tab for more detail.
